DESCRIPTION: Spring and Summer (on the corner of Spring and Summer STreets) is located 2 or 3 blocks from the Lubec harbor and the international bridge to Campobello. Local amenities such as post office, shopping, library, etc. are within easy walking distance. On a quiet tree-lined street, it is set up to be comfortable and relaxing. Before you walk in, the old-fashioned rocking chairs on the front porch suggest that you take time to relax. The giant maple tree in the garden invites you to bring your book and cool out. Lunch on the deck? Linger a while. Guests enjoy the apartment on the second floor of the house where they find self-catering accommodations: 3 bedrooms, a full bath, a lounge, a reading nook, and a well-equipped kitchenette. Access to the second bath and the full kitchen on the ground floor is also available. It is also possible to rent accommodations by the room if available (2 night minimum stay).
Lubec is the location of SummerKeys, the music vacation for adult amateurs, so the outbuilding of Spring and Summer is used for lessons and practicing (it is called 'Carnegie Hall'). Weekly concerts in the nearby church are a feature of the summer season. Owner lives on the property. She is a piano accompanist for SummerKeys who feels compelled to enjoy the beauties of Lubec and life in a small fishing village at every possible opportunity. METROPOLITAN AREA: Downeast Maine This is the land of lighthouses, rocky cliffs, pine forests. People love to hike, sea kayak, comb the beaches, eat lobster and blueberries, sketch, paint and photograph an extremely beautiful area of the world. Golfers say the course on Campobello, 4 miles away, is a good one. The air is clean, the stars sparkle at night, it is usually cool owing to the dramatic tides of the Bay of Fundy. There are no chain hotels or motels or restaurants. Life is very sweet here. RENTAL AVAILABILITY: May 1 to October 31 RENTAL RATES: Rates for 2008: Apartment by the week for 4 occupants, $800 a week June, July, August: off-season, $750. Additional guests in the apartment, ask for quote. By the room with shared amenities, $70 to 90 per night. Off-season, $65 to 85. Minimum stay for apartment, one week, for rooms, 2 nights.
