DESCRIPTION: Very beautiful and unique property in the Columbia River Gorge national scenic river area in White Salmon, Washington. Over twenty acres of prairie, oak savanna and pine forest overlooking the Columbia River and with a spectacular view of Mount Hood. The house has two bedrooms, a bath, laundry, internet WiFi access, fireplace, is very comfortably furnished, furnishings include many antiques. The house was designed to take full advantage of its surroundings, having porches and terraces and a bar-b-que. The house is part of a compound that includes a barn with two additional bedrooms and a bath plus a yurt with electricity, water and a wood burning stove. Although pets are not allowed in the house, there is a dog kennel and run by the barn. The property is in the town of White Salmon, but is situated so that from the house, you see no neighbors, just beautiful scenery. The house was designed by an architect and is featured in a book about houses in the northwest. We built it 8 years ago. Ann and Whitney Miller. We are retired from our first, professional careers and have started our second ones. We love the out of doors, traveling, reading, and various other hobbies. METROPOLITAN AREA: Portland, OR In the summer and autumn it is fun to pick blackberries everyday from bushes on the property. In the area there are beautiful waterfall hikes, wildflower hikes, mushroom hikes; there is kayaking, wind surfing, biking, skiing, snow shoeing and cross country in the winter; fabulous fishing; interesting geological sites. You can tour local vineyards and orchards, picking blueberries in full summer. The house comes with jeep and canoe and bikes. The property is located 45 minutes up river from Portland.
