DESCRIPTION:
Our house is a comfortable and clean 3 BR bungalow, 45 years of age and recently renovated; ideal for a family of four. Neighbors include young families and retired couples, most of which speak english and french. Our house is next to a school park, great for small walks. Fully furnished, central electric heating, slow combustion fireplace, satellite TV, high-speed wireless Internet. During wintertime, a contractor clears the driveway after snowfalls.

Amenities:
Central (electric) heating, washer/dryer, computer, wireless Internet access, satellite TV, stereo/HiFi, slow-combustion fireplace, front and backyards, patio/outdoor dining (Summer), private driveway.

The house is situated in a quiet and one of the nicest suburbs (Sillery), yet very close to all services. University campus, elementary schools and high schools, shopping malls, grocery stores and specialty shops, all are within minutes of distance. Also close to a promenade along the majestic St-Lawrence River. The suburb of Sillery is about 3 km from the old and historic center of Quebec City. One of the oldest suburbs, Sillery is centrally located with all services nearby.

Me, my wife and our two kids, will be going to Adelaide, Australia, for a leave of sabbatical from January 2011 to mid-July 2011. I am a professor at the faculty of Medicine, Laval University (Quebec, Canada), and my wife is also a college teacher. We’ve been to Adelaide before, during a fellowship from 1994 to 1996; obviously we liked it very much, made so many friends, and now plan to go back for this sabbatical.

METROPOLITAN AREA: Quebec City

There are several beautiful sites in and around Quebec City and, although not absolutely necessary, having a car would facilitate access to the sites. The city of Quebec can receive a lot of snow during winter and is an ideal destination for winter activities, such as downhill and cross-country skiing (many stations within close range), ice-skating, dog-sleigh and snowmobile rides. The city efficiently clears up all streets after snowfalls, guaranteeing easy moving around all through winter. During summer, outdoor activities remain a strong attraction (camping, canoeing, fishing, mountain trekking, etc.), in addition to the Old City itself which offers great sight seeing and entertainment. Nighlife, and summer festivals are well-reknown characteristics. Some of Quebec City’s assets are presented on the link provided below.

PREFERRED DESTINATIONS: Adelaide, Australia

PERIOD OF AVAILABILITY: Our house will be available from the first week of January to mid-July 2011, as we plan to be in Adelaide around these same dates.
