There is a small desert park nearby for morning walks. The magnificent Organ Mountain range is only
5 miles east of the house and provides a dramatic visual backdrop to the location.

Born in Germany, I am recently widowed and a retired marketing manager in the computer industry. I have close friend, a widow and former language teacher, originally from Ecuador who has her own home nearby. We will travel together.

METROPOLITAN AREA: Las Cruces is a medium size city in the southern part of New Mexico, about 50 miles from the mexican border. Approx. 300 miles south of Santa Fe and 300 miles from Tucson, Arizona.

Las Cruces, with a population of about 80,000, is the second largest city in New Mexico. The New Mexico State University is located here. Agriculture is still a major component of the area with large pecan orchards, cotton and chili pepper plantations being important products.
The area is rich in history and is considered to be one of the most significant crossroads of three
cultures (Spanish, Indian and Anglo). Being formerly part of Mexico, a large portion of the population speaks Spanish. The old village of Mesilla is adjacent and has great historic importance.
A few miles north the future home of the Spaceport America is being built at this time and private space travel will be active in 2011.
