The home is a family home with amentities needed to be comfortable. There is a dog and a cat that we can take with us if the exchange is not simultaneous. Since we have only one car and, again if not simultaneous, we would need to have. Yet the public transportation is very good for most of Chicago and you save a bundle on expensive parking in the city.

Kathy and her children, Michael, Gabriel, and Amelia ( all grown and completed or enrolled in college ) have lived in this house for almost 20 years. The home was built by Kathy's grandparents in 1926 and is in the English Tudor style. The neighborhood has lovely homes and is safe for walking and using as a base to explore Chicago and surrounding areas. Summer in the area is a delight. Kathy has worked for almost 20 years as an educational coordinator at a university in the city. One child is graduating from Trinity College in Dublin for college and one is at McGill in Montreal. We have enjoyed international travel always and feel comfortable sharing our home.

METROPOLITAN AREA: Chicago Illinois USA

Evanston is the first suburb north of Chicago and is the home of Northwestern University. Getting into Chicago by train is very easy and the EL is within walking district. Chicago has wonderful museums, blues and jazz bars, restaurants galore,Navy Pier, theater, shopping on Michigan Ave,sports, and great ethnic neighborhoods. In the summer it is a one block walk from the house to Lighthouse Beach(tokens for beach included).Evanston too has a vibrant downtown with great restaurants and a lovely walking path along Lake Michigan. This location would allow you to combine excitement of Chicago with relaxation.

PERIOD OF AVAILABILITY: During the summer we are quite flexible with times as we have a place in Wisconsin which we can use and accomodate your visit.
