DESCRIPTION: The home we are offering for exchange is our second home. It is a comfortable 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with an office that can also sleep an additional 2 people – total occupancy is 6 persons. (Though the futon in the office is not the most comfortable bed in the world – just warning you!) The size of the house is approximately 1800 square feet, or 550 meters. It’s located in a typical American neighborhood. The yard is adorable, and surrounded with a white picket fence. The wine collection is locked up when we leave (sorry!) but we might be convinced to leave a bottle for your enjoyment! The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, garbage disposal. Cable television, washer and dryer, telephone, central heat and air conditioning, and a computer with free internet provided. Kids okay. We do not have pets, but do love animals. . If you’d like to see more pictures of the house, they’re posted here: http://ginnyslc.tripod.com/frankfort_house/ We are an active couple, interested in sightseeing, talking with people from different cultures, scuba diving, snow skiing, wine making (and tasting!), and motorcycling. Ted is a retired computer analyst, and Virginia is a published author. He is an exercise enthusiast, and she adores history and reading. Our children are grown, so we typically travel alone. METROPOLITAN AREA: Lexington or Louisville, Kentucky The house is located in Frankfort, Kentucky, which is the state’s capitol city. It is approximately 25 miles, or 40 kilometers, from the Kentucky Horse Park, host of the renowned World Equestrian Games in 2010. (25 Sept 2010 – 10 Oct 2010 - http://www.alltechfeigames.com/) The drive is a very easy one, with a direct route. This house is also 1 hour’s drive from Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, which is held the first Saturday in May each year. And a 20 minute drive from Keeneland Race Track in Lexington, Kentucky. This is the heart of Kentucky horse racing! This house is also on the Bourbon Trail, a cluster of 8 well-known bourbon distilleries within a short distance of each other. (See: http://www.kybourbontrail.com/#) PREFERRED DESTINATIONS: Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, elsewhere in Europe, Australia PERIOD OF AVAILABILITY: Since we are not constrained by a work schedule, our travel schedule is flexible. This location is great for horse enthusiasts -- September/October 2010 for the World Equestrian Games, proximity to the Kentucky Derby every may, proximity to Keeneland Race Track which runs every April and October.
