We live on a modern, friendly, open-plan development and we have gardens to the front and to the rear and are not directly overlooked from any side. Our rear garden faces south west and we have lawns, patio and decked area with gas BBQ and a swing seat. We also have some fruit bushes with black and red currants and raspberries.
We have a delightful Victorian-style conservatory with access from the dining room that looks directly into the rear garden with the pond and a large variety of garden birds.
We may be able to arrange the use of our car, Ford C-Max new in Oct 08.

We are both recently retired, Jennifer was a hair stylist and Ray was a cost engineer in the automotive industry. Our three children are all married with their own houses and families. We are active and outgoing non smokers and we don't have any pets, apart from the fish in the garden pond.We love our house and take great care of it, and it goes without saying that we would do exactly the same with yours. We have stayed in house swaps with friends on two previous occasions, first in Canada and later in the UK.

METROPOLITAN AREA:

Wesham is adjacent to the ancient market town of Kirkham that received it's Royal Charter more than 700 years ago. We have a good bus service just a two-minute walk away and are one mile away from the motorway network. Excellent rail connections are very close by also.
Within a ten mile radius there is a whole range of places of interest and things to do. For example, along the coast there are many holiday towns of which Blackpool is the largest.
There are many golf courses, the closest being the world famous Royal Lytham links course.
Lancashire is steeped in history dating back to Roman times and beyond, and has many fine walks both coastal and rural. There are lots of good restaurants serving all types of food to suit all pockets.
Within a one hour drive are the major historical cities of Liverpool (home of The Beatles)and Manchester and both with their world renowned football clubs. For wild fowl enthusiasts there is Martin Mere Wild Fowl Trust.
Also within a one hour drive are the National Parks of The Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales. Within two hours we can be in either Scotland or Wales.

PREFERRED DESTINATIONS: In June 2010 we plan to visit Oberammagau to see the Passion Play, and we would love the chance to swap with someone in Southern Germany/Austria around that time. Mountain or lakeside venue preferred. Outside of that see below.

PERIOD OF AVAILABILITY: We are very flexible, but our winter is a nice time for us to spend time in your sun. However, England is much prettier in the summer sunshine, so we can swap then, too.
