DESCRIPTION:
My 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home or any of 7 one-bedroom rental casitas/suites. All situated around beautiful gardens with outdoor sitting areas to relax. Interiors are decorated with comfortable furniture and art from around Mexico and abroad. Amenities include: TV, cable, DVD, ipod docks, wireless internet, piano, maid service, cook.

An on-site manager is available to help with your San Miguel experience. Our home is a regular stop on the local house and garden tour. Here's their description:

Nestled surreptitiously behind iron doors, the noncoformist property of Carly Cross was purchased and renovated a few years ago when a debris-filled basement was found under the main dilapidated building and run-down land surrounding it. Nonplussed, Carly immediately saw its potential and went to work with great plans for the property, taking a mere four months with her hard-working crew to complete construction of seven casitas and renovating the main house. The entrance patio contains a beautiful fountain, ancient palm trees, and is surrounded by vibrant colors of the buildings surrounding and facing the garden. All of the casitas are painted in smashing colors, blending effortlessly wall against wall, and decorated with colorful folk art, paintings, knick-knacks, and adornos from all over the world. Many of the countertops are built-in and colored with polished cement, adding supplementary color. Her inventive mind even ensured that the television sets match the walls against which they were set so that they would not stand out as an eyesore to the colorful and whimsical rooms. In sharp contrast, her own, open living space is softly hued in light grays offset by the granite countertop in the kitchen area and a round, built-in booth for casual dining. Bookcases contain an abundance of books and folk art. Huge windows with French doors on all sides, one leading to her large deck with 360 degree views, ensure that an abundance of light enters her quarters.

We are young professionals. She runs a summer teen camp and rents 7 casitas. He is a classical pianist and owns a breakfast cafe. They met playing in a small ensemble together.

METROPOLITAN AREA:

San Miguel is a safe and accessible colonial town to explore. We are located a 7-10 minute FLAT walk to the jardin (main square), or 2 minutes from the Artisan Market. On our street, you’ll find all sorts of conveniences: a general store right across the street, 3 bakeries, an ice cream store, several internet cafes, a pharmacy, laundry, and a handful of restaurants. Besides exploring the shops, churches, and colonial architecture of our town, we're in day-trip proximity to hotpsrings, horseback riding, Guanajuato, and Queretaro.

PREFERRED DESTINATIONS: Open to ideas. We'd like to be in NYC for 2-3 weeks in January-February 2009 (Ideally January 19/20 through February 5/6) and then would like to visit the Boston area (Feb 5/6 - Feb 9/10, 2009). Would like to travel to Europe, Thailand, other areas in Mexico, U.S., but really we're open to new travel ideas, so contact us with your proposal! For longer rentals (more than a week or so) we'd prefer rentals where there might be access to a piano.

PERIOD OF AVAILABILITY: Not available during the summer (June-July-August). Open all other dates.
