DESCRIPTION: Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 4.5 Baths (Sleeps 10) The property is located just 12 miles from the center of Florence and from the moment you pass through the iron gates you will feel as though you have entered another world as time stands still. Nestled in the verdant hills of pristine Chianti landscape lies Le Valle, a 16th Century Casa Colonica. Many centuries ago it was a farm house and guard tower for the nearby Castello Mugnana. Magnificently restored 4 years ago the owners paid exquisite attention to every detail. Furnished with 18th century Country French antiques, chandelier lit throughout, and adorned with European fabrics and accessories, this home will at once take your breath away and make you feel enveloped by warmth. The three bedrooms in the main house all have en-suite bathrooms. All of the beds have top of the line mattresses and the master has a Duxiana bed, said to be the finest in the world. The marble master bath has a soaking tub and two person steam shower. The kitchen has hand hewn French cabinetry, and is equipped with everything for the most discerning of gourmet cooks. The family room has a massive stone fireplace which can be used for cooking as well as an entertainment system and a vast selection of movies and music. The stone floors throughout and the thick walls provide a cooler temperature in the summer months although every window is screened and fans are provided. The guest house, just across the front patio and down a few steps, has its own kitchen, marble bath, and fireplace and sleeps 4 comfortably. The property is ideal for three couples and/or families with children.
There are 3 separate terraces with tables and seating each with a more gorgeous view than the next. The BOSE Entertainment system provides music to the pool and patio areas. The tumbled marble salt water pool is 5x12 meters and has an electric cover. The pool area has lots of lounge chairs for reading or sunbathing and there are vistas that overlook two nearby castles. There is an organic garden for the use of our guests adjacent to the wood fired pizza oven and barbeque where you can dine alfresco under the beautiful vine covered pergola.
We decided 9 years ago to move from the San Francisco Bay Area to Italy with our then 8 year old son for one year. That one year has turned into 9 years and we are still here! We bought our "dream' house in the heart of Chianti 5 years ago and took a year restoring it. The past summers when we have gone back to the Bay Area we have done home exchanges or rented our "jewel." All of the furnishing and accessories were purchased in France. We brought our decorator over from California and she helped us create what is now a magical home. We have shared our home with many, many guests over the years and everyone leaves yearning to return. We hope that whoever takes the home this summer treasures it as we do. METROPOLITAN AREA: Tuscany - Chianti Region The property is located in the breathtaking Chianti countryside. Within 30 minutes you can be in the center of Florence or Siena enjoying the fabulous museums, churches, restaurants, palaces, piazzas and cobblestoned streets exploring all of the treasures of the Renaissance, yet easily return "home" to the quiet and natural beauty of your country estate. You can take advantage of all the wonderful, picturesque villages in the spectacularly Chianti area. There are some of the most famous wineries in the world within minutes from the house including Castello Gabbiano, Castello Verrazano, Castello Fonterutali, Antonori's Tignanello and dozens of others. There are spectacular hiking trails and bicycle routes literally at our front door. And of course the swimming pool area overlooking our olive grove, the two nearby castles and our beautiful valley is so dreamy that you will find it hard to leave the estate.
