DESCRIPTION: The apartment is a comfortable, sunny one bedroom set in the heart of Pian dei Giullari, one of Italy's most spectacular residential neighborhoods right above Piazzale Michelangelo and the romanesque complex of San Miniato. Pian dei Giullari's reputation for beauty rests mainly on its position: you can watch pheasants cruising by, step outside and reach the city's centro in a matter of minutes. This is an ideal location for exploring and enjoying Florence and its celebrated hills to the hilt. The apartment has been recently renovated and decorated with Tuscan wood beams, terracotta pavements and mahogany cabinets in the kitchen. The northeastern windows and the terrace off the kitchen look out on rolling olive groves and vineyards fading towards Florence. The two living room windows on the street side face the historic palace where Galileo Galilei once lived. There is a balcony with washing machine, air conditioning, cable TV and DVD, stereo, high speed Internet, a well-equipped kitchen and an excellent trattoria and grocery store named "Omero" next door (great prosciutto crudo). What's great about this area is that you're immersed in beautiful hillside scenery, yet you can walk to the Oltrarno and Ponte Vecchio in about 20 minutes. You get the best of both worlds. A car is also available for Tuscan touring.

The centro can be reached by way of the Oltrarno, via San Leonardo and San Niccolò neighborhoods, all three very charming. Porta Romana for shopping and Piazzale Michelangelo for sightseeing are both within easy walking distance. The house has an ample selection of guidebooks and maps you can pore over and a detailed list of recommended restaurants and touring destinations in Florence and Tuscany.
