DESCRIPTION:
The farmhouse is situated midway between Perugia and Todi, just outside the medieval village of Collazzone. Assisi, Spoleto and Orvieto are all less than an hour's drive away. The accommodation comprises one double bedroom and one single and a studio space which could take two more single beds. There is a large sittingroom, with television, DVD etc, a fully equipped kitchen and three toilet and shower facilities. The private, 12 metre pool is adjacent to the house and surrounded by mature gardens. The property is situated on a hilltop,amongst olive trees and with commanding views of the surrounding countryside.

The owners, Maurice and John, are two men in their late sixties who moved out from England in March 2004. They are both keen gardeners and much of the time since arrival has been spent designing and creating a garden of connected outdoor spaces, each with their own style and atmosphere.
Maurice is a lifelong photographer, an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society, a convert to digital and to Adobe Photoshop, who is also a bookbinder and makes "artist's books".
John, an ex-professional actor, now paints, both on canvas and on the computer. He has recently had an exhibition of his work in London's Barbican Library.





METROPOLITAN AREA:

The area of Southern Umbria offers a landscape of rolling hills and wide valleys. Much of it is cultivated - with olives, grapes and sunflowers being the principle crops.
It is an area rich in history, with Etruscan, Roman,medieval,Renaissance and post Renaissance buildings in abundance. Being so close to Assisi, there are many places associated with St Francis.
The house is particularly well situated for quick access to the great centres of art and culture - Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Todi, Orvieto and Spoleto are all within an hour's drive. Rome can be reached by car in two hours and Florence in under three. In all the towns mentioned above and in several that are smaller, you will find on offer a great variety of classical music, jazz, opera, plays and art exhibitions.
