Our vacation home, "Almost Heaven", is located in the year-round resort community of Tahoe Donner in the town of Truckee, CA. We are 12 miles from Lake Tahoe and just a few miles from Donner Lake. It is the perfect year-round family vacation spot where you can enjoy a wide variety of winter and summer activities or simply relax and slip out of your everyday life and enjoy our spectacular mountain lake environment with blue skies and sunshine. If you like to snow ski, this is the place to be. We have eleven world-class ski resorts within minutes from our front door! Our resort community is comprised mainly of vacation homes and provides many recreational opportunities for its residents and guests. The summer amenities include an 18-hole, par 72, championship golf course with a pro shop and driving range, tennis complex, equestrian center with over 100 kilometers of well maintained horseback riding trails, and access to the private beach on Donner Lake with a marina and boat ramp. There are miles and miles of hiking trails nearby. Winter amenities include a downhill ski area specializing in teaching first timers and novices, a snow play area and miles of well-groomed cross-country trails. Trout Creek Recreation Center is open year-round with a fully equipped fitness gym, 2 adult-only spas, 1 family spa, a recreational swimmning pool,a heated (to 80 degrees) three-lane adult-only lap pool (open year-round), dry sauna and steam room. The recreation pool is open in the summer months as is the Northwoods pool that is for children only.
