My husband, Terr,I and I moved to Russell nine years ago after commuting between Colorado and New Zealand for the previous six years. Seven years ago we opened Just Imagine Gallery which specializes in art glass, wood
sculpture, ceramics, paintings and jewelery from NZ, Australia, the US
and Europe. Terry spends much of his time sailing our yacht (in NZ any boat with sails is referred to as a 'yacht') around the Bay and in open
water. He has crossed the Pacific twice in the past three years and is preparing for a third transit.
When we are not working or sailing, we love to travel around NZ as well as overseas, read, attend the theater and explore new places with friends and family.

METROPOLITAN AREA: 90 K north of Whangarei.

Russell sits on a penninsula jutting into the sheltered Bay of Islands located
in the north (and warmest part) of the North Island,New Zealand.
Our village is accessible via car ferry from Opua and foot ferry from Paihia thus giving Russell the feel of an island unto itself. Russell (also
known in Maori as Kororareka) is the oldest and most charming town in the country, and is noted for its rich history both Maori and European. The town features 14 restaurants, an internationally known art gallery, arts and crafts shops, water based activities from snorkeling and sailing
(either commercial or private), to diving, fishing and swimming.
In addition, walking tracks, tennis courts and Sunday soccer are open to all, so there are several options for those who prefer to keep their
feet on solid ground. Most people coming to Russell say, "This is so beautiful; I could live here forever".

Ongoing activities available include: yoga, pilates, ballroom dancing, French Club, Maori language, kayaking, soccer, sailing races, bowls, art classes and more.

Russell is only a three and a half hour drive north from Auckland, a hour from Whangarei, 40 minutes from Kerikeri(basic shopping and
