DESCRIPTION: Our house is located in Villa Pehuenia, a quiet mountain retreat at the bottom of the Andes mountains. It has one bedroom with king size bed and a large closet,a full bathroom with jacuzzi and a confortable living- dinning room with a couch and fireplace.We have central heating in all the rooms, LCD TV and satellite television.The kitchen features a fridge, stove and oven and microwave oven. The house is just opposite the lake and there is a large deck with a table, chairs and deck chairs to relax and enjoy the Patagonian sun.This house is located in a 4hectare lot so peace and quiet are guaranteed!!! Maid service is provided on a daily basis for the house cleaning and laundry . We are Sonia (Translator and COnference Interpreter,50)and Adrian (lawyer,49). We have three daughters, aged 27, 24 and 8 and a granddaughter (7). We built this house in 1998 as part of a resort which includes another two houses and an Inn. We love Villa Pehuenia and travel there between 6 and 8 times a year. Although we live near Buenos Aires, Villa Pehuenia is our second home town, if anything like this exists. We find this is a place that combines tranquility, an ancient culture and wonderful scenery. When we are home we love sitting in the deck and just watching the trouts jump in the lake. And in winter we enjoy cooking , inviting friends and eating in front of the fire-place. METROPOLITAN AREA: Villa Pehuenia is a small village at the bottom of the Andes mountains in the Province of Neuquén. Up until the 19th century it was the home of severalfamilies who belonged to the Mapuche tribe and it was the last site to surrender to the conquest campaign led by the national government. Many descendants of the Mapuche community still live around and even today keep their goats herds and their ancients traditions. MAny of them are glad to share these traditions with the visitors.Besides there are plenty of places to go trecking, mounting climbing, sailing, horse riding and bird watching. It is not rare to see a "condor" flying over the tops of the mountains.In sunner the temperature is warm and the days are long and sunny. In Summer sun set is around 10PM!In winter there is snow and Cerro Batea Mahuida, 5 km from our house, is a lovely place to ski. Its slopes, covered by magestic "araucarias" (trees that co-existed with the dinosaurs back in pre-historical times, are a gift to the eye and a relax to the soul.
