Haiku is a small rural town near surf & hiking on the north slope of Haleakala, the 3333m mountain which is the Hawaiian "House of the Sun". Trade winds generally blowing on this Windward side of island. Within a short drive are 4 restaurants, 2 food markets, pharmacy, video rentals, gym, hardware store, post office. 25 min by car to 12 cinemas, large food markets, airport, Mau Arts & Cultural Center, art galleries. 1 hr. to Lahaina, touristy former whaling port. Nearest surf & sand, Hookipa, is 8 min. by car, 15 min. by bike (50 min returning); Kanaha, 25 min. Within a 30 min. drive there are hikes in forests, by pools & waterfalls. Less than an hour to great snorkel spots on calm Leeward side of island. Paragliding less than 1 hr. away.

Switzerland or Ireland or New Zealand or Northern Italy near Sarner Valley (Sartol) or Bolzen : In Switzerland, near Sarner See & Sarnen & nearby countryside. In Ireland in the Cork area, we want to connect w. traditional music sessions & a tin whistle (& possibly bodhran) class, seminar or teacher; visit the coast line - especially Sherkin Island; bus or train or drive (on the left - help?) to surrounding areas, walk trails, visit Cork (possibly theater), etc. (We drive on the right in Hawaii & the rest of the USA) |
