CLIFFLANDS is one of the grand old houses of Leura. It was constructed in the Arts and Crafts style (late Federation) circa 1917. It is now fully renovated with new bathrooms and new kitchen. It is situated at the end of a peaceful cul-de-sac in South Leura in a large garden which was originally laid out in an informal style by Paul Sorensen. The garden runs into the Australian-bush so visitors to the garden include rosellas, king parrots, kookaburras, magpies, foxes, kangaroos and wallabies. There is one bush walk which plunges down to the valley river.
A new central heating system has been installed in the house, and this plus original open fireplaces make a stay at CLIFFLANDS warm and comfortable in a serene atmosphere. Electric blankets ensure a cosy sleep. Due to the antique furniture and porcelain, CLIFFLANDS is not suitable for children under fourteen years of age. Rooms available include the Chinese Ming Suite (queen bed plus private sitting room, ensuite bathroom), Strawberry Thief Suite (double bed plus ensuite bathroom), Bird and Pomegranate Suite (double bed plus ensuite bathroom), Library (single bed and single futon plus private bathroom). The house has formal living room, formal dining room, breakfast room, kitchen, informal sitting and dining room, verandas. This is a private home with antiques and art works, and is not a standard rental. Guests are requested not to smoke inside the house, nor on the verandas, nor in the garden. A cleaning fee of $500 will be levied should smoking be undertaken. No pets (guide dogs excepted). |
