Our home is spacious and cosy at the same time. Although built in 2006, as an example of "Green Building" and sophisticated energy conservation features, it sacrifices nothing in the comfort and aesthetic areas. It is heated by a radiant floor system with solar panels on the roof, propane boiler backup and passive solar and a soapstone wood fired stove. We generate 90% of our electricity from solar panels, a wind generator with battery backup. We are grid tied, so the rest comes from carbon free wind generation we pay for. Water comes from a new community system, but we have 5000 gallons of storage of water collected from snow melt and rain.
